KAUAI--vacation pkg, or air/lodging separately???
 

Hi! <BR> My girlfriend and I would like to go to Kauai in late November (W-Th-F-Sa nites during Thanksgiving week). <BR> Should we go on one of those "packaged" deals (airfare & lodging with United/American airlines or Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays, etc)...or is it better to buy airfare & lodging separately? <BR> If you think it's best to buy separately...any suggestions for lodging? I've been to Oahu twice...NEVER to Kauai. <BR> <BR>Thanks--I'd REALLY appreciate any/all input.

Stay at the Hyatt in Poipu. The Pacific Cafe, The Beach House, Roy's and both restaurants at the Hyatt are good. A travel agent shgould be able to answer cost. I've done it both ways. I would not wait too long to book it because the biggest expense is the air fare and it doesn't sound like you can be very flexible. Aloha

<BR>we went to Kauai from Honolulu with a company called Roberts Overnighters(1800 899 9323)They saved us a bunch of money and we were able to stay at the Princessville in Hanalei which is gorgeous.Check out their packages.Hanalei is very laid back and not as commercial as poipu.

We used the Pleasant group for our vacation totally. Including the rental car. We were met when we got off the plane in Honolulu and escorted over to the connecting flight. They made things very easy for a first time visitor. Stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort and it was wonderful. Very clean and well maintained. A beautiful place to stay. Everyone there was pleasant and helpful with where to go and what to do. The 7 days and 8 nights cost us about $2500 total for two that included airfare from LAX to Honolulu to Kuai back to Honolulu convertible Sebring on both islands and stayed at the Turtle Bay Hilton on Oahu. Turtle Bay was ok, but not nearly as nice as Hanalei Bay. Good luck and have fun!

Just saw your message and hope that you have booked for Thanksgiving. That period fills up fast. We are going on American from SFO to Kauai with a Fly Drive Package for $900. WE are doing our own hotel because we can find a better hotel cheaper than what the packages offer. However, American's air to Honolulu with interisland service to Kauai plus a car for five days is a better price than I could do separately using discounts and even a $300 American voucher that I had.
