Kauai tomorrow!!

We are off to Kauai tomorrow. I don't have a thing packed, but I'm not worried! Can't wait ... We will be in Poipu and the weather forecast looks great ...
Couple of questions ... any new restaurants to check out? Also, looks like Princeville may not be a big stormy mess like it was the last time (couldn't even make it up there for the day ...) any great restaurants in Princeville to celebrate a birthday? We are more familiar with the Poipu selections.
Thinking about Hamura's tomorrow ...always our 1st stop upon landing! I'm also going to order those wontons that aren't on the menu and a lillikoi pie to go!

Things do change! Hamura's has now put the won-tons on the menu! Kal sent me a picture to prove it as I did not believe him!

Have a great time!

Oh shoot, I thought I could order from the 'secret menu'!

One more question ... we went to the Allerton gardens last trip ... fantastic!! I understand there is another wonderful garden with guided tours ... maybe near Princeville? I can't remember the name, but I think that you need reservations. Anyone been there? How does it compare to Allerton?

I think this might be the place you are thinking of. Not been there, but it is on the menu for this summer.

Limahuli Garden up in Haena is also worth a visit. You can walk around without a guide. There are gorgeous views of the mountains and waterfalls from there. It is dedicated to native plants.

Costco opened in Lihue, near Kukui Grove Shopping Center, last October. great prices and selection of snacks (they have some snack items i don't see at Costco mainland) and gas for your car. not new, but worth going to if there's one close by where you are : Sunshine Market. we went to the one near Hanalei (in Waipa) last month. i bought some fruits that i have not had since i was a small child (i'm now in my 40's) custard apple, jackfruit, longan.

Thanks anaheimwoman, for the tip on Costco. I love the farmers markets! We always go to them and pick up those wonderful fruits.

Iamq - Yes! That is the garden I was thinking about! If the weather cooperates, we plan to go there, I will post a report!

Ellen, I am SO envious of you being in paradise tomorrow! If you want one more garden, I highly recommend Limahuli. It is devoted to native species and is very interesting and educational. You can do a self-guided tour, or the guided tour is very informative.

Have a great trip ((r))

Have fun! (close to Princeville) One of the best rest. we ate at last August was in Hanalei at the Old school house. It was the little gourmet restaurant right next to the restrooms. I had the best Waldorf Salad (their way) with greenapples, it was soooo good. Casual and great drinks! I have copied this salad at home many times. We did not go here to eat or have drinks but the "Happy Talk" Bar in Princeville looks interesting and maybe a fun place for drinks and dinner. It looks like it is right on the water.Have an AWESOME time and Happy Birthday!
