Kauai Sept. kanikapila?

I know i'm tossing a coin in the fountain on this one, but does anyone know of any kanikapila gonna be happening 'round the second week of sept. in kauai? I am pretty new to singing/playing with anyone but ohana, but i just love it. I think the hawaiian language is so beautiful. (and i might add some big mahalos to the web site that i see associated with the ever helpfu helpful hawaii poster, Auntie Maria. The archive of hawaiian resources available on mele.com is so excellent.

Try asking the good folks who contribute to the message board at taropatch.net -- you'll be getting advise from newbies _and_ pros.

I can tell you that visitors often show up at Tahiti Nui in Hanalei on Sunday afternoons...that's when The Happy Hawaiians usually play (around 2-3pm), and anyone can sit outside or at the bar and play along. All Hawaiian, real backyard style.

Literal translation of kanikapila:
To play music (typically a stringed instrument -- Hawaiian guitar or `ukulele).

mahalo nui loa, auntie.. I'm looking forward to our next visit in Sept. already. It is so amazing..i was just discovering taropatch.net today while doing some web research for a new ukulele! It seems like a great resource..also found the garden island arts council web page, which i thought was very nice. We will definately check out the Tahiti Nui scene and also look for stuff more local to where i am in the SF Bay area. I know of PICA, of course..but until recently, i never really thought to get involved here on the mainland. thanks again! :o)annie
