Kauai Restaurants

We will be visiting Kauai for three weeks and staying on the North Shore, East side of the is,and as well as the South shore. It has been four years since we have been to Kauai. Can anyone update me on Restaurants and recommendations.

Thank you.

We spend a month on Kauai every year. We always stay in the Poipu area. Here is my trip report from 2017: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...kauai-2017.cfm

It is really mostly a restaurant report. Sorry, I don't have recommendations for the north shore or the Kapaa areas. I'm glad to answer any questions you may have.

Enjoy your tire on Kauai!

Kathie

Thanks so much for sharing your latest trip report. Interesting that there are some restaurants with no corkage fees, but, have to ask where you reside that you feel an $18 corkage fee is reasonable. Maybe, the West Coast? . I suppose it is reasonable if you’re bringing an expensive wine. Thanks again. We appreciate your help.

We live in Seattle. Corkage here is usually $25, so $18 seems very reasonable to us! Note that the restaurants with no corkage fee applies only to wine purchased at the Wine Shop in Koloa.

If by East Side you mean Kapaa/Coconut Coast area:
JO2...Jean Marie Josselin's return to the Coco Coast. I believe he recently expanded. Very good Pac Cuisine at a reasonable price.
Kauai Pasta-good pasta, decent wine list (selection and prices) and a nice bar in the back.
Hukilau Lanai-one of the best on Kauai. IMHO If you want a lanai seat, reservations suggested.
Bull Shed-very good steaks and seafood and the view is awesome. You'll have to close the window it's that close to the ocean.
Sleeping Giants Grill (formerly Kilauea Lighthouse Grille). Very fresh fish. Small eating area inside and 1-2 picnic tables outside. We stay at the Islander so we grab and go and eat on tour ocean front lanai.
Lava Lava-Great Happy Hour and tables right in the sand on the beach. Good beer/cocktail. Can't beat the view.
Kinatro's-A Kauai Institution
Street Burger-very good burgers and a really good selection of beers.
Olympic Cafe-Big, stick to your ribs b'fasts. GREAT Bloody Marys.
Oasis on the Bach-another Happy Hour place with an awesome view.
Monico's-Very good Mexican
Brick Oven Pizza-Love the whole wheat combo pie, well done, drizzled in garlic butter.

It's our first time not going over in Nov/Dec or Dec/Jan since '89...going thru withdrawals!

Kauai is also discovering the Food Truck. There were a few here and there but now....A lot up in the "Downtown Kappa" area between there and Kealia Beach.

Tiki Iniki. Todd Rundgren's wife's place. Good grub. Wish it had a view, tho.
