Kauai: Princeville vs. Hyatt?

I am planning a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, part of which we want to spend on Kauai. We will be there for four days, and I'm interested in any opinions on staying at the Princeville Resort vs. the Hyatt Regency.

Of course, hints on other possibilities would be great too - these two just seem to get the most attention.

Can't go wrong with either. The big consideration is what time a year are you going??
Summer in Princeville is tops, during the winter months Poipu is tops. Princeville is on the wetter side of Kauai and the weather can be worse in the winter. We are going back to Kauai for the 4th time next winter and we will stay in Poipu. The rainfall is much less and usually lots more sun.
Make sure you do the helicopter trip on Kauai.
Bart

Wallace,

Bart hits the nail right on the head, and by the way, summer is considered to be May thru October, winter is November thru April, generally. You can't go wrong on Kauai! I wouldn't stay on the East coast. It is more central to things but not nearly as nice as North or South areas, and the island is so small, it's not THAT FAR to drive anywhere. Have a good trip!

If you play golf, Princeville. One of the greatest courses in the world.

Hi Wallace-
We spent part of our honeymoon at the Hyatt Regency (October). Never rained and LOVED the hotel-they have a fabulous *pool/lagoon* area with waterfalls, etc..too beautiful to describe. The restuarants were really good as well as the rooms. I also heard the Princeville is very nice but we enjoyed the Hyatt and would definitely go back. Have fun!

Stayed at the Princeville for our honeymoon last April. Will never forget that place. The scenery was like nothing I have ever seen. Maybe a little more risk of rain but it is definitely worth it.

Ditto Roger's Remarks!

Wally, For a honeymoon, no way around it, it's Princeville...even in the rain!
Poipu seemed to be more family oriented, but it is beautiful, too.

Agree w/ the Princeville golf course (Prince course)...take your camera. You're also close to Hanalei and the "end of the road". I hear Charo's old restaurant has reopened to some excellent revues (Surf's on the Beach)and it's on your way to Kee Beach.

Go and watch a sunset from Polihale Beach on the west shore..mahalo
