Kauai:Princeville alternative ???

Is there a resort with the panoramic views of the Princeville on the North Shore but for less money??? Tell me yes!

Hanalei Bay Resort is adjacent to the Princeville Hotel(5 star) and shares the same beach but is only a three star resort. HBR will give you a golf cart ride to and from the beach. Condo's are much nicer than hotel rooms in my opinion at HBR. :S-

Gotta agree with JohnD on Hanalei bay Resort, or perhaps look at a condo facility within princevilel rather than the Hotel itself.

Good ideas-I'll look at all the properties. Can't wait to return to Paradise. I'm wearing out my South Pacific CD!!!

Agree 100% with JohnD re HBR, pick accomodations carefully. Grounds etc are very nice indeed, restaurant so-so (tho' view can't be beat), and Kal, I thought their drinks were pretty puny ! Again the view makes up for it, as do the tiger prawn pu'pus (or however you spell snacks :) )

There's lots of rental units around, for one example see www.balihai.com

I have stayed at HBR. I prefer a stand alone condo and in Hanalei bay. You will have more privacy and only have to walk out to the beach on a flat land not down a hill. Hanalei Bay is ok but I felt like I was in a college dorm, too many people. Princeville is a more convienent jumping off point to the rest of the island though.

Reply to Sarah, I found it a challenge to figure out which condo is where in the Princeville area. Can you be so kind as to provide us with a name of the condo units in Hanalei that you are describing? Or perhaps I should revisit the "Ultimate Guide to Kauai". :?
