Kauai on a budget - is it possible?
 

Family of three looking for B&Bs or cabins or camping. Attractions besides golfing. We like to splurge on good restaurants, so would appreciate some suggestions there.

Take a look at the accomodations listing at the HCVB website: gohawaii.com. You may find some good choices there, esp. under vacation rentals and condos.

Check Expedia.com - depending on when you're going, they have the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort @$70/nt for a standard rm - you can't beat that!

Large cabins at Kokee State Park--about $40/ night? Above Waimea Canyon, in a state park filled with hiking trails. Stayed there two years ago, and was just in the area again--we had a great time "roughing it." For hotel, we stayed at Islander on the Beach in Kapaa, right on the water's edge, in a lovely room with kitchen area and microwave, for $94/ night Entertainment rate. Unfortunately, Hanalei Bay Resort, which used to be a great deal, is undergoing conversion to time-share suites only, and the few "just" hotel rooms left are badly in need of maintenance. The location is of course still magnificent, but the hotel rooms are no bargain any more.Email if you want more info [email protected] <BR>

Lisa - <BR> <BR>You can do Kauai on just about any budget. There are tons of B&Bs as well as individual houses and condominiums that might appeal to you. First of all, you have to decide what part of the island you want to stay. How long are you going to be there? We own two weeks at the Lawai Beach Resort on the South shore and have been going to HI for 15 years. We know Kauai better than any of the islands and I would be glad to make recommendations based on your needs. The North Shore is by far the loveliest spot on any of the islands in our opinion, but you have the weather to contend with - it can rain a good bit, but if the weather is great, there is no where more lovely. I would suggest simply doing a search for "Kauai Bed and Breakfasts and Condominiums" and would will get a ton of data. Again, I will be glad to help you if I can.
