Kauai lodging
Which one to chose? Aston Islander on the Beach, Aston Aloha Beach Hotel, Courtyard Kauai at Coconut Beach Or Kauai Beach Resort. The Sheraton looks nice but the price is over $200 which I am trying to keep the price below. Any suggestions on any of these? If flying into Lihue is it far from any of these hotels? Thanks for all the advice everyone has this website is sure helpful.

Have not stayed at any of those (stay at the Marriott in Lihue) but supposedly they are doing renos at the Marriott Courtyard. You just need to know that none of the eastside beaches (except Lydgate) are swimmable. Have you looked at any in Poipu?
Might also want to crosspost this on TA. |
have stayed at the Sheraton in Poipu which is nice but are you looking for luxury or just a place to sleep, condo or hotel? Can recommend Sea lodge at Princeville, Pali ka Pua also Princeville, Kianhuna plantation and Makahuena all in Poipu. Try VRBO for good deals on condos.....

You might try Priceline. I got the Marriott Courtyard for $79/night. I really liked it. I've also stayed at the Kauai Beach Resort. Very nice -- but not "wow."
My personal preference is to stay in a condo. I love Sealodge. But if you don't want the North Shore, try Pono Kai. I liked it a lot. As mentioned, none of the East Coast hotels you mentioned have swimmable beaches, but they all have nice pools. But I enjoyed that at the Marriott Courtyard, there were chaise lounges set up on the beach. Most of these hotels are less than fifteen minutes from the airport. KBR is five minutes. Sealodge is farther -- around a 45 minute drive. Poipu is nice, but to me, it's more "generic resort" than Hawaii. (It's 20 - 30 minutes from the airport.) But some people prefer that. The island's small enough to explore the different areas easily. You'll enjoy regardless of which of these you choose. |
Not sure if you have thought of the B&B route, but you may want to look into the Dilly Dally House:
http://www.lolohale.com/rooms.html I stayed there with my husband in 2009, and this is one of the most gorgeous, "hidden gem" places we have ever come across - and the prices are reasonable. We booked it because every review on tripadvisor was basically 5 stars (or circles :)) - and we definitely were happy about the decision. I believe this is close to the Lihue airport - it's in Kapaa. We stayed in the Cottage - which is more than the $200/p night budget -- but there are cheaper (but still really nice) rooms in the main house. Hope this is helpful! |
