Kauai in spring or early fall?
My daughter and I stayed at Sheraton Poipu Beach over a decade ago and enjoyed it. Stayed in garden room. Now husband wants to visit with me and he always wants ocean view room. Many hotels are so big they are set far back from beach. Any recommendations for hotel or other accommodation?
Also flexible re travel dates.I went before in summer b/c daughter was in school. |
We stayed at the Kauai Mariott Beach Club in Lihue. Our room had a partial ocean view but I don't know if they have oceanfront rooms or not. In any case, it's a beautiful hotel.

We stay in condos on Kauai. I find the choices more interesting. I would recommend Kuhio Shores for unbeatable ocean views, but you may also want to consider the north shore which is so beautiful, a place like Hanalei Bay Resort for example.

Thanks I will check it out.

Do you recall what unit you had? Is there easy beach access--it looks pretty rocky...and is there good snorkeling and safe area away from surfers? Hard to know when people post images if they are from place you are looking at or shots from travels around island.
I think you may be right about perhaps being too late, so if I cannot find a reasonable deal for lodging and car rental I will pick another destination, maybe Charleston and Savannah |
I don't recall the unit numbers but if you post a specific unit I can give my thoughts (I have stayed in a couple different units). The beach at Kuhio Shores is very small but the snorkeling is pretty good (depends on your standards because Hawaii snorkeling is not as good as many places). No problems with surfers, they are deeper where the waves break.
I'm also looking at last minute options for Kauai. It's pretty booked up but I have found some nice choices. I think you just have to be a little flexible, for example don't insist on an ocean view if a place looks nice enough. In your case you may want to look at Kiahuna Plantation which is on that same beach the sheraton is on, even though you'll probably not get an ocean view room. But like I said above you should also consider the north shore. It's a different kind of vacation where you drive around and explore different beaches everyday. |
we are about to stayd at VillasatPoipu for 4th time . Just walk down the garden to the beach and sea views from the penthouse. We've been in April and October and had perfect weather -just some ligh train on the North shore

I don't insist on ocean view but hubbie does.I'd rather spend money on food and outings but he likes to sit and look at ocean so that is what he enjoys. I would enjoy too.
I intend to be out and about more though.Thx for your thoughts, still noodling options. May even change and go to Georigia to Savannah and Charleston! |
I like Poipu and will check this out.
