Kauai in October?
 

A friend and I are planning a trip to Kauai in mid October. What can we expect for weather? Is the north shore too rainy by that time of year? Also what are the beaches like in October? We were thinking of staying in A building at Sealodge for part of our stay. Is this a good idea?

My wife and I were there last october. It was beautiful! Rained a little every day, sometimes hard, but usually not for long. There's a reason it's called the Garden Isle! We stayed at Poipu, on the southern coast. Aston at Poipu Kai condos. Fifth night was free. There are quite a few great beaches close to that area for either swimming or snorkeling. Enjoy your trip! It was our first visit (spent 5 days on Maui as well as 5 in Kauai), and we go back in 28 days!! Going this time to BI and Oahu.

We were on Kauai last Oct. and stayed at Aston Islander on the Beach. The beach was great, although not for swimming or snorkeling, but we wish we had paid a little more and stayed somewhere nicer. The pool and bar were good and the location was good, but the rooms needed help.

We were told, by a man who lives on Kauai, that the north shore beaches are not good for snorkeling in Oct., because the water is way too rough. It rained a little bit each day, except for one day when it rained a LOT! It didn't stop us from enjoying the island, though. Just drive in a different direction to find different weather. Have fun!

We've always gone over in Nov/Dec or Jan and have yet to take a NaPali Coast cruise due to the Nor Shore high surf (sometimes up to 30', beach closing waves)and winds....and of course mosquitos, chickens, and it's too dark. O:)
