Kauai Hotels with Kids - Hyatt/Marriott?

We will be going to Kauai in Feb/March next year with our kids ages 9 and 12. We have been to Maui several times and have stayed at the Grand Wailea, Kea Lani and Sheraton. We have also stayed at the Hilton on the Big Island. For those of you with kids, which hotel is the nicest and most fun with kids on Kauai. We love to snorkel and the kids like to swim in the pool while we relax. Are there any hotels with pool slides etc? I think we would want to stick to staying in the dryest part of Kauai with a less chance of rain.
Thanks for any advice.
Between the Hyatt and the Marriott the Hyatt has more to do pool-wise. The pool area has not only a lagoon but a "lazy river" with slides from one area to another. The kids will never leave. The lounge chairs also have flags you can put up so that you can receive pool side wait service without ever leaving your chair. way cool!

I second Suzie's comments. The pool at the Marriott is huge, but nothing special for kids. And you're closer to better snorkeling at the Hyatt. The Marriott's also more exposed to the weather. At that time of year, I'd stick to the Poipu area.

We've stayed at both and the Hyatt is better. I think they have a kids club too. Watch the swans swim by while you eat breakfast! So nice.

I've gone to Maui 3 times with my 2 kids, the most recent we rented a condo instead of staying in a hotel. It was SO SO much better. We had a 2 bedroom condo and it was fabulous. The kids were much happier and I can't tell you how much cheaper it was being able to bring in small things like fruit and cereal for breakfast etc. When we stayed at the Marriott, our bill was more than twice what we paid while in the condo and it was 100% nicer. I even had my own washer and dryer so could do a quick load ever few days. It was a lot easier packing. PLEASE consider this alternative....I'm a Mom of 2 who's been there!

No hotel on Kauai can compare with the Grand Wailea or the Kea Lani. But if you are looking for a fanstay-type pool, the Hyatt's is the best on Kauai.

Beth
Looking at your initial question you are asking about Kauai and several of the responders gave their opinions about the Marriott Maui pool. The pool at the Marriott Kauai is nice and large (supposedly the largest in Hawaii), but nothing like the one at Maui, and no slides or lazy river.

Cath is right that the Hyatt Kauai is more a fantasy type pool. My concern at the Hyatt is the beach immediately at the hotel, it is really not suitable for children, too rough most of the time, although you can drive to Poipu beach for a more sheltered beach. The Marriott Kauai beach is sheltered as it is inside the harbor and therefore calmer.

Bob

I would suggest the Hyatt because of the awesome pools and lagoons. Watch out for the ocean there, I saw a teenage boy smash his head against a rock in the ocean. He had to get stitches. Kauai is a very beautiful island, but I agree, the Kea Lani is a better resort overall. It has a swimming beach and large suites. The Hyatt has a large snorkling lagoon and a very fun waterslides. My 13, 11, and 9 year old LOVED the place.

How can any of you say that the Kea Lani
even compares with the Hyatt on Kauai ??
Go for the Hyatt - You will love it. The Kea Lani is a pale comparison - even
my 10 yr old son saids so.
