Have you ever stayed at the Courtyard Marriott or the Poipu Kapili Resort in Kauai? If so, please give us your review.

I've stayed at Poipu Kapili although this was in 1999. It is a nice condo resort centered around the pool. It has a tennis court and had an herb garden. Ocean is across the road and it is not a far walk to Kiahuna beach. Children are generally frowned upon. The manager left about a year ago to go work at Poipu Kai so I don't know if things have changed since then.

I am at the Courtyard Kauai right now. Very clean hotel with a friendly staff. The beach isn't very swimmable but then again it's rained everyday since we've been here and there are entire trees that have washed ashore.

There is a spa here but I haven't visited it. Workout facilities are adequate with treadmills, stairmasters and a bike. I really like the fact they have fresh fruit available in the workout room.

There's also a coffee bar/bakery on the premises.

Are there things in particular you are looking for?

I have found the location to be very convenient to restaurants and shopping.

Is there anything to do there when it rains? Does it rain all day or what? Have you seen the sun?

Well to be honest it has rained everyday and all the activities I had booked this week got cancelled. :-(

My husband has been working each day so I've pretty much just driven to all the highlights-Opaekaa Falls, Wailua Falls, Hanalei, Koloa Town, Hanapepe, Waimea, etc. just stopping at anything along the way that looked interesting. I feel like I've been in every gift shop on the island! So you can always shop and eat if it rains.

I have had no problems just sightseeing with the rain. It's just that if you book outdoor activities there's a chance they will get cancelled.

Oh and if you're planning to snorkel at Lydgate-well it is just a lagoon filled with a bunch of debris. I mean there's not one spot where you can actually see water thru the debris.

What kind of activities do you have planned?

Oh and to answer your question-the sun is actually out now and has been for a couple of hours. But every other time it has peaked out the rain wasn't far behind.

The news reported that since the 1st of March the rainfall total has equaled what is normally received during the 3 month period of January thru March.

I am going to be there for the first two weeks of April with my wife and family. It was supposed to be for a wedding and family party. Our spa appointments are booked. And we were planning on doing a fair amount of snorkeling at Kaloa landing, I am worried that we won't be able to do that. And now I am reading reports that some parts of Kaloa Town are evacuating because the Waita Reservoir is spilling over into Waikomo Stream. Should I just cancel my trip? And rebook some time in the summer.

Well nobody can predict what the weather will do but I think what we've experienced here has been an anomaly.

Parts of Koloa did evacuate just for precautions because one reservoir was overflowing.

Thus far there has not been any damage that would limit what you are able to do on your trip. It just depends on what the weather is like while you are here and the ability to be flexible on some of your activities.

I would not cancel my trip unless there is some further damage to the island. Most tours will still operate if there's just showers. We did get to do an ATV and a "sunset cruise" minus any sun on Sunday. Just all 5 days I had planned this week were hampered by the weather.

Other than being disappointed about my tours being cancelled I did have a nice time. I can only imagine how nice it would have been had I had sun. :-)
