Kauai Grand Hyatt or Sheraton
Hello,
The most recent post comparing the Grand Hyatt and the Sheraton on Kauai seem to be 6 years old. We understand parts of the Sheraton have been refurbished since then and wonder how it now compares to the Grand Hyatt (which we love). We have family on the south side and have begun making short visits every year or two. We'd like to save some money and stay at the Sheraton but after once staying at the Kauai Beach resort missed the lush relaxation we found at the Hyatt. We would love to hear from someone who has recent experience with the Sheraton and especially with both. Thanks to all. |
I LOVE the Grand Hyatt on Kauai. Have stayed at both and prefer the Hyatt for its sheer beauty and style. The Sheraton is a basic Sheraton but then it has been several years since I have stayed there. Hyatt is quite a bit more expensive but too me worth every penny. If you are staying for more than a few days, why not try a VRBO and get a condo - more room for same price or less and if you want to cook you can (we always have breakfast, snacks and cocktails in the condo) or eat out.

Thanks Shar, we really love the Hyatt as well but were wondering how the Sheraton compares since it sounds like it's on a better beach and is less expensive.

The Sheraton was apparently recently updated, but there is really no comparison between the two. The Sheraton is on a better beach, but is a "simpler" hotel, with a nice but not exciting pool. The Grand Hyatt is all glitz and glamour, the Sheraton is low-key.

I haven't stayed at either, but have walked through both. A nice beach is more important to me than a pool so I would go with the lesser hotel. You commented on the "lush relaxation" of the Hyatt and you will not find that at the Sheraton. I agree that there is no comparison between the two and if you want the Hyatt experience then forget about the Sheraton.
