Kauai Condo Advice
I've been going to the Hawaiian Islands for quite a few years over the Thanksgiving holiday. This year we are going back to Kauai and decided on a condo instead of a hotel. I'm down to three that I've picked out. Can anyone share any experiences with any of them. It's down to, Whaler's Cove,Poipu Kai and Poipu Kapili. Thanks for your input.

Hi Alan,
We stayed at Whalers Cove Sept 01. It's a beautiful and private complex. Nice pool and jacuzzi. We had first made reservations at Poipu Kapili but after I noticed that there was a road between the complex and the ocean which also included a low stone wall I opted for Whalers Cove. We asked for and received a unit in building 1 on the second floor. The lanais are huge and run the length of the condo with doors from both the living room and master bedroom. There was virtually nothing between our unit and the ocean. Sunsets were beautiful.
We drove by Poipu Kapili and DH remarked that they did look nice but he preferrred not to have a road run right in front of it. Because the place wants to provide as much ocean view to each unit the pool was very much open for public view from the road.
At Whalers Cove the pool is right on the ocean. They have BBQs and stairs that lead to some good snorkeling.
Sorry I don't know about Poipu Kai units.

Whaler's is very private, great views, located on rocky coastline.
Poipu Kapili is really beautiful, those condos sell for about $700K so you know it's a desirable area! Short walk across the street (not busy) to the Sheraton's beach.
Poipu Kai encompasses many different condo properties which all vary...some with views, some without. Some fabulous, some not-so-great.

Thanks everyone for your reply. It looks like Whaler's Cove is the place to go. Suzie, did you go through a management company(suite-paradise or one of them) or did you call the property direct? It seems that there is a big difference in the pricing. Once again thanks.

Alan, we went through suite paradise. I've noticed that the prices are a bit higher than they used to be but ask them if there are any deals going on. It will depend on how much traffic they are getting for the time. No one was there when we went. Then again, nobody was in Kauai during the later part of Sept 2002.
