You may be interested to know that Kauai just passed an ordinance that allows smoking only in designated huts around the island. Anywhere else and you could be cited and fined $75.00.

Mercedes bring them with you. My boyfriend smokes and they were about $4.50 a pack. Actually cheaper than what they cost in NJ. You can smoke in most of the restaurants that have outside seating. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoo.

I was thinking of murdering someone in Kauai and was wondering whether I should bring a gun or buy one there. Appreciate your advice.
And, heck, the responses can't be any more harsh.

<<Wow, you'd think she asked what the price of crack cocaine was.>>

Neat response, tom...

Neat response, j 9...

Personally, I've found that ex-smokers are among the most intolerant people on the planet, sort of like Health Taliban.

Hi folks. I'm in Kauai right now, and was curious about finding a place that sold cheaper cigarettes. Yes, I smoke. Get over it. I was ASTONISHED at the self-righteous responses the person who started this thread received after asking a simple question.

Look, while you're typing in your malicious responses with a Twinkie in one hand, popping your Xanax in between keystrokes, and watching teen porn, remember: There are plenty of more "secret" vices that plague the human race today than smoking.

I am not advocating smoking...it is a harmful addiction and when people who smoke are not courteous, it invariably leads to problems, both societal and in regards to health.

But the bottom line is this. We smokers are continuously being ostracized and considered "outcasts" by the holier-than-thou-but-most-of-us-used-to-smoke-but-we-have-no-sense-of-compassion-or-remember-how-difficult-it-is-to-quit-so-we-bash-people-for-smoking-oh-how-could-those-nasty-people-do-that-but-I-used-to PEOPLE.

To the person who started this thread..Cigarettes range from 7-10 dollars depending upon which brand..

THERE WASN'T THAT EASY FOLKS?????

This thread is 8 years old. Unless the honeymoon is REALLY long, I'm guessing the price isn't really a concern at this point.

Seems odd to join Fodors and resurrect a thread just to yell at people. While on vacation.

Enjoy Kauai. Don't trip over any roosters.

Umm...kevy? You have mentioned porn twice in a very short period of time. Nothing like telling on yourself.

You are a dinosaur. Get over it.

kevy -

We are not "holier than thou" - we are just trying to save our health and lives and those of the people around us.

If smoking affected only you it would be fine. But you are polluting everyone else's air too - which is what people are objecting to.

a dinosaur times infinity ------- pooooooof!

even puff the magic dragon had the good sense to quit, although he does dabble in the maui wowie once in a blue moon for medicinal purposes. It's not easy being a dragon with all the tourists "discovering" hell like little Captain Cook's. Remember what happened to him? It's called hell for a reason.
