Kauai - Capt Andy's and other tours

My husband and I will be in Kauai in Feb 2013. We would love to do a tour of the Napali coast, however, we are not snorklers or hikers. Does anything know if Capt Andy's or other tour operators offer a tour of the coast without all the snorkling, expensive dinner etc? We would like a catamaran with a 2-3 hour tour of the coast with refreshments available.

Any information you can share is much appreciated.

We took the sunset tour. They are a very nice family run operation. There is no meals or diving involved. It was a very nice trip - if you go bring some of your own adult beverages if you want that kind of thing. They give out fruit and soft drinks. It was a great way to see the coast. We also did a helicopter trip with Blue Hawaii and I have to say that was the most amazing thing we did!

Understand that February and sailing the NaPali coast is a toss of the dice regardless of the outfitter. Even if they do go out, dramamine and ginger are a good idea. Not sure if I would prebook anything that isn't cancellable up to leaving the dock, that time of year.

Sorry LG - I didn't even see that comment! We went in July - much different weather than February. It was a little chilly coming back into the harbor with the wind and water blowing up, in fact, we all work jackets on the trip back in.

You don't havw to snorel on Capt'n Andy. Have taken his tour many times and there are always people who don't snorkel just want to sail and enjoy the ride and see NaPali.

We've taken Poipu sunset sails with Captain Andy several times, and last year we took the morning NaPali trip on their Southern Star, which was awesome. We saw many many whales.

I don't like snorkeling from a boat, so I just skipped that; it was a fairly brief stop.

I don't think you'll find a 2-3 hour tour; it takes a while to get from the harbor to the NaPali coast, so the tours are usually 5-6 hours.

I would also recommend a morning tour. You'll have a better chance to see dolphins and a better chance of not having a choppy ride. We took an afternoon trip in October, not even winter, and they warned us ahead of time about how rough it could be. No one listened, and just about everyone got seasick. On the other hand, the morning trip was glorious, one of the best memories we'll ever have from a vacation.

I am in Kauai now and we did the Napaali coast today with Blue Dolphin tours. There was time for snorkelling but only about 45 minutes. The rest of the tour was the boat ride with great commentry.
They served breakfast, lunch and snacks all the way

It was a highlight of our trip.

Good advice about going in the morning - when it's almost always calmer than later in the day.

We did an afternoon cruise - and loved it - but coming back - there was a little chop and some people did feel a bit queezy.

Would also check ahead and see how full the boats are - and hold off if possible on confirming - as you can pick a day when you are over there that is the smoothest.
