Kauai beachfront vacation cottage rentals
Our last trip to Kauai we rented a private home on the north shore and are totally sold on homes vs. resort or condo. We loved the privacy, quiet and the feeling we weren't surrounded by other tourists, not to mention the savings of being able to prepare our own food. Although our Princeville rental was idyllic, it was not directly on a beach. If anyone else on this board has stayed in a beachfront rental on Kauai you can recommend, please advise. Thanks!

Try Grantham Rentals (do an internet seacch) as they have properties directly on the beach in Poipu.
There are also houses on Anini Beach that are oceanfront and a few in Hanalei on Weke Road. Try VRBO.com (vacation rentals by owner). Coastline Cottages on Lawai Road in Poipu are darling, they have a website. One of my favorite spots is Waimea Plantation Cottages but Waimea is waaaaaaaaaaaaay off the beaten path and does not appeal to many vacationers. They have a website. |
Thanks, Vivi. Have you ever stayed at the Waimea Cottages? From the website it doesn't look like they would be beachfront...? I may be consider the Kapa'a area since it is easy to go both directions on the island.

Hi Maggi,
these cottages are located on tunnels beach (a fantastic snorkeling beach)...i think you'll be plesantly surprised....here's the website http://www.hanalei-vacations.com/hmcott.html |
My favorite is Kiahuna Plantation on Poipu Beach. The last time I stayed there were 3 managing companies, one being Outrigger (can't think of the others). The grounds are spacious, villas are plantation style, and the property starts from the road (garden views) to the units directly on the lovely crescent shaped beach. Good luck with your search.

EJ, yes, I was looking at the Hale Makai, specifically unit #4 closest to the water. I wish there were more pictures on the website. A definite possibility. With regard to the Kiahuna Plantation, they do not offer two bedroom oceanfront units (we are two couples). The website does not offer "cottages" - it looks like apartment buildings. Am I missing something?

My husband and I were looking to rent a luxury beachfront home in Kauai in February for under $1000/night. We were unable to find one that we could swim and snorkel off of during the winter months so we gave up.
We had the same problem with the top resorts (Princeville and the Hyatt). So make sure you're OK with the fact that your beach may not be swimmable, depending on the time of year. P.S. We really liked the looks of the properties featured on Kaui Vacation Rentals and Real Estate. You should check it out. |
