Kauai Beach Hotel (Hilton)
Thanks for the earlier responses to my question about the Ala Moana Hotel. I'm now wonderinf if anyone also has recently been to the Kauai Beach Hotel that is/will be a new Hilton. Is that one still under renovations?

Nothing special in the renovations, Bill -- just fresh paint, new upholstery, etc. No new buildings; no removal of the exisiting ones. Didn't check it myself, but have heard that the bar & restaurant remain the same, too. Guest rooms were renovated last year, so were untouched in this recent go-round.
More of a "refresh", than renovation.

From an article in today's Garden Island newspaper:
"The five-story property has undergone an extensive renovation of its guest rooms, lobby, dining facilities and meeting space. The plantation-style décor creates an open, airy atmosphere while reflecting Kaua‘i’s agricultural heritage. The resort’s pool complex features three pools and two whirlpool spas surrounded by tropical landscaping, lush grottoes and numerous waterfalls, including a 12-foot cascade into the main pool. A fourth beach-front, sand-bottom pool features a 90-foot flume and lava tube water slide.
"Each guest room has a private lanai, local Hawaiian coffee blend, MP3 alarm clocks and large work stations with an ergonomic chair and wireless high-speed Internet access.
"There’s also a 24-hour self-service business center.
"Naupaka Terrace, the Driftwood Bar & Grille, Shutters Lounge and the Island Marketplace serve up a variety of meals, snacks and beverages throughout the day."
