Kauai Anniversary Dinner

My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary on the North Shore in October. I am trying to select a restaurant for our anniversary night. The two that seem most fitting for the occasion are Cafe Hanlei and La Cascata, both at Princeville. Does anyone have a recommendation between these two or an alternate? Is there outside seating at La Cascata?

Thanks for your help.

There used to be a nice Italian Place at the Hyatt with outdoor seating. Or Gaylords is a nice choice also.

Since you are staying on the north shore, La Cascata and Cafe Hanalei are great choices. La Cascata is heavy on the Italian and I dont think they have outdoor seating. Cafe Hanalei has indoor and outdoor dining, the views are stupendous. The Friday night seafood buffet is reknown.

The best food on Kauai is probably at A Pacific Cafe in Kapaa but it has zero view. Plus you probably don't want to drive that far for dinner....

((r)) Aloha and best wishes on your upcoming anniversary! ((L)) vivi is absolutely right about no views at La Cascata or Pacific Cafe, although the food is great at both. My pick would definitely be Cafe Hanalei, but I should say that I can only make that recommendation based on the Friday night seafood buffet, never having gone there for any other meal. However, I can't imagine that the regular menu would be any step down in quality from the seafood buffet, and the views are unbeatable. If you want a guaranteed outside table, especially on Friday nights, best to make your reservation for 5:30 PM, which is when they first start serving, and then also make sure you're there at least 15 minutes beforehand. This way, you'll at least have the option for outdoors vs. indoors, depending on the weather conditions. Good luck and enjoy!

We are blessed to live within walking distance of the Princeville Hotel -- and treat ourselves to meals there regularly.

Cafe Hanalei has very good dining, and a view to make you drool. :-)

But La Cascata's menu (IMHO) is far superior. And if you make reservations in advance, you _can_ request a window table (same view as Cafe Hanalei).

Or enjoy the sunset and cocktails in the hotel's "Living Room" (usually includes nice live music), and then go down to La Cascata for dinner. Best of both! :-)

Thanks for all of your replies. I like the idea of going to the Living Room first, maybe for a bottle of champagne to enjoy the sunset. It's hard to sit down to dinner so early. Does the Living Room have any outdoor terrace area?

Yes, there is an outdoor area that can be accessed just off the Living Room, and there is some seating out there - makes for a lovely viewing perch!

Princeville Hotel offers a dinner ON the beach catered for around $395 per couple. There is also a place called Heavenly creations that does dinner on the beach as well they run around $270.
Not sure how much the dinner is worth but it would be pretty romantic!
