Kauai & Maui Golf
I will be going on my Hooneymoon in Late september and would like to play some golf. I've heard that most of the courses are expensive anybody have any helpful hints?

Hi Bill you may want to check out a company called Stand-by-Golf 1-888-645-BOOK. I used them when I was in Maui and I think they also cover Kauai with good rates. The way it works is they sell unsold tee times for the next day at selected area courses. You would give them a call about 5pm the day before and see what's available and take your pick.We saved as much as 40% a round during our 2 week stay.We played Pukalani Country Club,Kaanapali(north),Wailea(Blue) and both of the Makena courses.Good luck and hittem straight !!!!

We played 2 of the Wailea courses in May, it was $140 per round. Steep, but the views were amazing.

The Princeville resort on Kauai has 2 gold courses-not sure how expensive they are but the views are beautiful!! <BR>

If you search, you can find a more detailed post of my golf experience on Maui earlier this year. In summary: Pukalani is probably the best bargain on Maui with great views. You can make the fancier courses more reasonable by playing twilight. Kapalua Plantation (a fantastic course) was only $85 at twilight. If you plan on twilight, make a reservation, but show up about 1/2 hour to an hour before twilight starts and see if they will let you out earlier. The drawback for Stand By Golf is it is difficult to plan your week if you have your heart set on a specific course and are waiting for it to be available thru Stand By. But if you are not picky, Stand By is a good way to go. Still not as cheap as twilight rates though.
