Kauai & Honolulu
My husband and I will be in Kauai 8/30/04. We will not be arriving till 8:30pm. By the time we get to our hotel (Radison) it will be past 9pm. After traveling over 14 hours, we will be dead tired and hungry. Where can we get a bite to eat at 10pm in the evening?
We are also into snokeling and fishing. We reserved a full day fishing trip. I'm afraid if I catch a large fish that I won't be able to reel it in! Will the crew help it need to land the big one??? |
If you're changing planes at HNL, you can grab fast food in the inter-island terminal .
If you flying directly into Lihu`e, your options at that time of night are limited. ..especially if you're almost too tired to eat. Closest to the airport is Hamura Saimin, in "downtown" Lihu`e. No dining spots will be open that time of night between the airport and the Radisson. |
There's a Wal-Mart down the road that should still be open at that time.
|
Do the rules still apply that the boat owns the catch? Hate that rule.
|
offlady:
That WalMart is open 6am to 10pm now -- except during the Christmas shopping season, when it's open almost 24/7 (!) |
gyppie...
Yes they do still keep the fish. Of course we wouldn't be able to keep it anyway. Do you know if they help you reel them in if you need it? |
I guess will have to eat at the airport before we leave there. How far is the Wal-Mart from the Raddison? If we can get there before 10pm, I might pop in!
Thanks for the info everyone. |
Just got back from Kauai June 18. I'd have a bite at the airport if your in Honolulu. We hiked until our legs collapsed and were so bad about getting ready late that our choices for supper were limited almost every day. Also don't miss a helicopter tour there it was the highlight of our trip.
We went with Jack Harter the were great. |
To the OP: How about room service?
|
The lounge at the Radisson is open til midnight, they serve pupus so you could try that for a relaxing, late night snack. Their poolside grill MAY be open, they have great burgers.
You could drive out of the airport and instead of turning right at the signal to go to the Radisson, go straight up Ahukini Rd to Kuhio Hwy. There is a KFC, Pizza Hut, and a McDonalds in the Walmart. The Honolulu Airport has several dining places, some sit-down service and some fast food. Yes, everybody is right, the crew will keep the fish! But they may give you some to BBQ ( I dont think the Radisson has BBQs but there might be some next door at Kauai Beach Villas). |
OK Diner in Lihue (on Kuhio St) is open 24-hours.
Good food. |
To centraltexasgirl: I was wondering if you would post about your hiking excursions in Kauai. We plan on hiking every day of our five days there, and I would love to hear your reviews of the hikes that you did.
Mahalo! |
On our first trip to Kauai, we arrived in Princeville at 8:30pm, but it seemed like 2:30 am. We were exhausted and had been up since 4:30 that morning. I woudl suggest getting something at the hotel because you may be too tired to stop along the way and get a bite. Rest up for the next day!
