Kauai Airfare

Hey Kauai Folks!

Just purchased the airfare for Kauai the first week of June '07. Woooohooooo! I'm so excited and I just thought I'd share. Thanks for all the wonderful help so far, and I'm sure there will be a million more questions to come.

Please tell the details of your airfare, ie. did you get a really good deal & where are you flying from? We've not gotten ours yet. Thanks!

MauiPigFarmer Oct 29th, 2006 06:41 PM

Hi OldSouthernBelle -

Not sure if it's a good deal, but we've been watching for several months and we felt comfortable enough to go ahead and book. We're leaving June 3 from Intercontinental Houston (IAH) to Lihue, changing over in Phoenix. $640 round trip. That same fare was $1021 way back when we first started checking. So even if it drops a little more I still feel like we did ok!

I fly from BHM or ATL, but from what I've been reading, that is pretty good!

OldSouthernBelle Nov 2nd, 2006 04:09 PM

Which airline?

vegaslocal Nov 3rd, 2006 12:58 PM

Glad to hear you got your tickets! I hope I can join you there!

rollingwoods Nov 3rd, 2006 01:28 PM

You'll love Kauai. I and my family were there for 5 nights in September.
Re airfare: don't forget that some airlines will give you a credit if you find the airfare drops after you've purchased your tickets. United issued a $197 voucher good for a year for each of the three of us, when this happened on our Kauai tickets. And you don't have to fly within a year, just order tickets using the voucher within a year.

Thanks for that reminder!

CaliNurse Nov 4th, 2006 01:03 AM

PigFarmer--Congratulations!!! Only 7 more months ...you'll be there!!!!
Your airfare sounds good, considering you're flying to Kauai from IAH. Heck, it's not much more than what we have pay to fly from here (SF Bay Area) directly to Texarkana!
Aloha and best wishes, MPF, as you enjoy the anticipation.

We recently booked airfare to Kauai for July of 2007 from Philadelphia connecting in Phoenix and then directly to Lihue for around $630. This is the cheapest we have gotten from the East Coast in years.

Aloha Rich!

Counting the days yet?

OldSouthernBelle - it's AmericaWest. I've not flown them before but as long as I can get to paradise I'll be a happy camper.

CaliNurse - how was your trip to my neck of the woods? I hope you had a fabulous time. Next time let's GTG.

RichinPA - that is an excellent fare from the east coast I think. I bet you guys are counting the days like we are. I'm going to put a countdown calendar on my desktop so that every time I reply I can tell IAMQ EXACTLY how many days are left! LOLOL

Rollingwoods - thank you for reminding me about the airfare difference.

VegasLocal - I hope you can join me too. Yall, VegasLocal is my nephew and yall will remember this is going to be a family honeymoon. VegasLocal is working diligently to clear his schedule for that week in June.

Hey Bill I have a question for you. Being as you're a veteran snorkeler I'm sure you own fins. We have masks and snorkels and are currently looking for fins. I'm trying to avoid renting them because Snorkel Bob's will be closed when we fly in and I don't want to have to drive back down the next day just for fins. Any idea where to purchase some good inexpensive fins online? As always, thank you for your expert help.

I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS TRIP I CAN HARDLY STAND MYSELF!

iamq Nov 5th, 2006 03:05 PM

Hi MPF,
We recently bought some new fins. Deep See Aqua Glides. They are the split fin variety and they are the type that you can wear booties or watershoes with. I think they were about $35 a pair. We bought them at a local dive shop. I really like them. Very comfortable. They were not the top of the line, nor were they the bottom of the barrel.

I'm not sure what you consider cheap, but if you go to Amazon and search for snorkel fins, you will come with around 100 hits in all price categories. I bet you'll be able to find something.

Hope this helps...

I'm not sure why you're so damn excited. It just the Hell Hole after all. :-?
