Kauai Revealed???? Hotel advice is ok, but I wouldn't use their hiking advice if I were you. And there's way too much controversy about their books in Hawaii (and on this website), so just be warned.

What kind of controversy? I have bought the book and think it is very informative. Are the hiking recommendations poor? I have never heard a negative comment on the book before, that is why I am surprised!

girl on the go - this is a response of mine to another posting from 2/14/06:
There's been quite a bit of debate on this site about the "Hawaii Revealed Blue Books". Some of us hate them, and some of us love them, and some of us realize there's both good AND bad information in them. I could only find the posts I contributed to. Let me just say that I own all of them, and while the hotel info is good, the hiking info can be bad; rather suspect. Wow! I had no idea. I read the top link's posts. I would never climb over a fence even if it said I could in a book. So, I won't be knocking on your door!!
I did buy the books and found them helpful about activities and hotels and such. I would not describe it as a "bible" on Hawaii. I would say it was more candid than some travel books. I did buy other books on Hawaii though and read info on the interenet. I look forward to my trip and hope to have a good time. I am also hoping that Kauai dries out over the next 3 weeks.... |
