never heard this one either, awful cute though...reminds me of an english friend of mine who says, when he means pretty much "and that's that" he says
"and Bob's your uncle" I always adored that! |
In the "dumber than..." vein, I'm a fan of "older than..." expressions.
The best is a variation, meaning a long, long time ago: "Back when God's dog was a pup." |
OK...who here says catty-wampus? And who says kitty-corner?
???? |
Actually (for real), this GA girl has always said 'catty corner.' :-)

Betsy-He wasn't predicting disaster. He did beleive it's a serious problem that needs to be dealt with. The comments came in an interview with an author who has written a book about the debt.
The author was much more concerned than Bob. Bob pointed out that there are many countries with higher deficits as a percentage of GDP and that are own debt is not as high as it once was on a per-capita, inflation-adjusted basis. Actually, I thought it was one of his less interesting hours had it not been for his use of the phrase we've been discussing. |

Oh, OK--quite a few people that I know in Honolulu (not everyone!) use the term "kitty corner."
|
I was born and raised in Philadephia, PA and definitely have heard "Katie Bar the Door".
|
Ohio checking in here. I have heard or read the "Katie" phrase many times. I'd be fibbing if I told you that I have used it in the past week or so. I will, however try my best to get it in sometime tomorrow to check reactions.
I like going different places and hearing phrases and accents that people use. Especially the south. Any place that has Piggly Wiggly stores is alright in my book. sam |
From my Tennessee Granny ...
Well, slap the dog and spit in the fire! :-d |
Thanks, dwooddon. I caught a little of Bob last night. KGO broadcasted two hours on a delayed basis after the football game. Agree that it was pretty boring. Heard one KB the D though.
