KansasCity
Going to be in K.C. for three days.Planning on seeing the museums, eating BBQ, and shopping. Would like to see some gardens. Is there a botanical garden or others worth seeing which are open to the public? Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
Jane

Why would anyone go to Kansas City? It is the nearest nothing place.

Powell Gardens is nice -- just outside the eastern edge of the city. Loose Park, near the Plaza, is great for a stroll. There is a lovely rose garden there as well...

Powell Gardens is about 20 miles east on Hwy 50 and is the best garden site around.
The rose gardens of Loose Park are right across the street from my house and are OK if you're already in the area (at the Plaza), but don't make a long trip.
The Ewing Kauffman Memorial Gardens are just east of the Plaza (about 4 blocks) and are also nice for a brief visit if you're already in the area. The lawn of the Nelson art museum extends right down to the Kauffman Gardens.
Have a nice visit.

Have to go for a wedding. Thanks for the garden info.
Jane

The Plaza area is good for shopping.

Try the Harry Truman museum if you're interested in American history. Actually, it's worth a look even if that's not your topic.

Parkville is a pleasant old little town to wander around in within driving distance from KC.
