Kansas City Restaurant help please
Going to a wedding, staying in Overland Park. We don't have a car, but can take cab. We like Pacific Rim, seafood, vegetarian, Thai, Mediterranean. In other words, I eat no red meat or chicken. My husband is more flexible, LOL. Love good food, price no object. Thank you!!

East and Pacific Rim: Ruchi Indian Restaurant College & Antioch, India Palace 9918 W 87th St, Thai Place 9359 Santa Fe Dr, Thai Place South 11838 Quivira Rd and Choga Korean Restaurant 6920 W 105th St are all good. 87th & Santa Fe are the same street in that part of town.
There are several other Indian and Thai restaurants that I don't care near as much for and a couple which I haven't tried. I recomend the Indian restaurants more for their food than their service. The service is better at the two Thai Places. For Seafood go to Bristol Bar & Grill 5400 W 119th St. There are 6 or 7 places for sushi in Overland Park. I think the best is far south: Lzumi Japanese Steak and Sushi 11658 W 135th St. Prices are pretty reasonable even if it was an object. Bristol and Lzumi are the most expensive of the restaurants I have listed. The rest will probably be under $40 without drinks for two people. There are some good Italian restaurants in Overland Park, but no where I would recomend for Mediterranean. Keith |
Depending on where in Overland Park you'll be, it would be a long cab ride, but you should go up to the Country Club Plaza for at least one meal. The Kona Grill is great for sushi & other Asian food, and McCormick & Schmicks has great seafood. I believe they are both chains, but they don't have a chain feel at all. Plus, the Plaza is beautiful and would be a fun place to stroll or shop after lunch or dinner.

Thank you for your suggestions. The Thai Place gets very good reviews on Trip Advisor. We ate at Mc Cormick's in Chicago once, it was delicious. I will look at Country Club Plaza... thanks again!!!

Sorry...I just wanted to clarify one thing. In my post I think I made it sound like the Country Club Plaza is a restaurant...it's actually a shopping/dining/entertainment area with a lot of restaurants and shops, along with beautiful architecture and fountains. You may have realized that, but in reading my post, I wasn't very clear. Enjoy KC!

Try 40 Sardines in Overland Park (or Leawood). Lots of seafood options, but other things as well, very innovative. For lunch, you might try Andres in the same shopping area. You could get cheese quiche, it's yummy (swiss restaurant).
