Kansas City International Food

Are there any food options inside the secured area in Terminal A?

Nope. Food vendors are outside the security gates.

There are a few of the secure areas with small carts now. Water, snacks, coffee and the like. Unfortunately it seems rather hit or miss so I don't know what you may or may not have available. My last flight was American and they didn't have anything, but whatever I flew before that did, and I can't remember who it was right now (too much flying apparently).

If you go to www.flykci.com you can at least see a map of the terminal and see where the services outside the secure areas are located.

Are you changing planes at MCI? You may have to leave the secure area to reach the other plane - each secure area is only a few gates.

The up side of that is short lines for security and short walking distances. There is no reason not to leave the secure area and return.

There was nothing inside the secured area I was in - flying MidWest. I never would have had the time anyway as they flight connections turned out to be too short - I didn't want to risk the time of going through security again. I was surprised at how huag an airport that is, and there were only a handful of planes.

I just picked up someone from an American flight, Terminal C, gate 77. Thinking of this thread, I peeked inside and saw that the gate area that includes this gate did have a small cart with drinks and sandwiches.

Interesting, as my last American flight there wasn't anything available, but maybe it was a gate.

Again, it seems to be hit or miss at the moment as to this availability.

I flew Southwest into Kansas City last year, and I remember buying a coffee and bagel. I don't remember if I had to leave the terminal though- there were quite a few security gates though!

I flew Southwest and inside the secured area of our gate (probably 4-6 gates, I think) there was a Wolfgang Puck Food "cart" with drinks, sandwiches, chips and fruit.
