Conde..those were my impressions of KC also. I think coaster is a native of KC in order to defend it so. KC's newspaper stinks (use only for bird cage lining). Local AM talk shows are a joke. And what is up with the dirty white sneakers that people wear everywhere?! Culture..ha! However with that being said, I suppose if I were 21/22 single perhaps the Westport area would do something for me, too.

Some people can read between the lines.
BTW NOT a native. If you only knew.

Go Jayhawks.

I know this is an old post, but being from Brad Pitt's hometown, just wanted to let the Southern Cal "Conde" know that Brad and Jen are spotted around town quite often. They are pretty low key and people leave them alone. They hit local restaurants and hang out with Brad's family. (he seems tight with them). So, there is something to be said about this "fly over" territory.
|
...and that something would be: if you have family there you still have to visit. But that doesn't imply that the area is (or is not) any more or less worth visiting.
Put another way, I seriously doubt Brad and Jen would spend their off days in southern Missouri in the absence of family ties. |
I don't know Brad and Jen, (and have no idea how a Kansas City post wound up on the subject) but just to shed a positive light on S. Missouri - aka The Ozarks, a region designation shared with N. Arkansas) You might like the area if you're the outdoors type. Nightlife, it not but it's a very pretty place, unlike the visuals that most people have of us in the "fly over". Ozarks are full of steep, forested hills, fast clean rivers, giant caves and history (Civil War sites, Jesse James, Daniel Boone) Some pics: http://www.ozarkmountains.org/ Favorite canoeing haunts: http://www.nps.gov/ozar/ Brad might be hanging around for other reasons besides family. |
I don't live in the mid-west but have spent a lot of time in both St. Louis and Kansas City. I far prefer Kansas City to St. Louis.

Hello folks, this message was posted in '02

It was revived not because of the original question but because someone from the Springfield MO area wanted to defend that area's tourism potential (which I suppose is a 'timeless' issue).
