Kangaroo Bus Tour at San Diego Zoo

Hello!

My family and I (2 adults in late 40's & 2 teens) are going to visit the San Diego Zoo and so far, we are planning to purchase the Deluxe package. (admission, 35-min. guided bus tour, round-trip skyfari aerial tram)
We are also thinking about buying tickets for the Kangaroo Bus Tour. ($8-9)
In your opinion, is this tour worth the cost? Or are we better off just walking?
Also, are the 8 stops scattered across the zoo, not bunched up in one area?

THANKS so much in advance!!

If you don't mind walking, I would skip the bus. The San Diego zoo is very large. You will need to do a lot of walking with some of it up and down hills. If you have the time and like to walk then it is the best way to see everything. You can see much more by walking and it is more enjoyable as you can do whatever you want at your own pace.

The good thing about the Kangaroo Bus is that it allows you to hop off and on ("Kangaroo" -- "hop", get it?) There are about 8 to 12 stops around the zoo so if you see something that interests you, get off there, have a good look, and then catch the next one that goes by.
