Kahana Sunset - ever stay there?

I'd love to hear feedback from anyone who has ever stayed at the Kahana Sunset, which I believe is just north of Kaanapali. This appears on the internet to be a very reasonably priced and smaller condo resort right on a reef-protected beach. It's cheaper than most other places I've seen, and I'm wondering why. One thing I've noticed is that the units are rented out by owners only, which might help explain the lower prices. Thanks in advance.

You get what you pay for. If it sounds too good to be true, it is!!

I haven't stayed at the Kahana Sunset but I have walked through the property. It appears to be a very nice but moderate property with its own small but very private beach. As a matter of fact there is almost no sand along this part of the shoreline except in front of the Kahana Sunset.

Go to this web site for an aerial view of the Kahana Sunset:
http://www.wizardpub.com/maui/mrkahanasunset.html

We stayed at Kahana Sunset about 15 years ago. It was very nice. Beautiful beach, but only some of the units are actually "beach front". The nice thing about the Kahana area in the Summer is the trade winds blow a lot and keep things cooler. If you can get a good price, I'd grab it. No restaurant on the sight, but I don't see that as a problem. The units were very nice (however, that was 15 years ago).

We had considered staying here but decided not to as we were concerned about the lack of A/C. Turned out it wasn't really necessary as this part of Maui is really breezy. We did walk thru the property and it looked nice. Would probably consider staying here for next visit. If you stay there, can you write a review when you return? Thanks.

Lee-
I have stayed here twice and am going back again in September. I find the rates to be excellent. The condos are clean and the beach is outstanding. The pool is nice as well as are the grounds. If you go on their website, you used to be able to see a diagram of the condo layout. They divide it into garden and oceanview. The garden ones are a bit cheaper but still have some view. The condos are separately owned (or they used to be) so, for the most part, they look the same, except for a few personal touches by the owners. They also have community barbeques which are quite popular. I've never felt crowded in this resort. Hope this helps!
