JW Marriott Starr Pass or OMNI inTucson AZ???
 

Thinking about a last minute get away and wonder if anyone has been here and what you thought of the hotel..service, rooms, etc.

Also thinking of the Omni in Tucson...any opinions on this one?

I'm not familiar with those, but we just did a priceline for Tucson and stayed at the Westin La Paloma for $85. This is a lovely resort, great pool area, and big rooms.

In previous visits there (we have family there) we also did priceline and stayed at the El COnquistador and Lowes, also very nice.

Westin LA Paloma isn't on Priceline now. The only resort on it is Starr Pass.

Out of curiosity...how was the room since you got it thru Priceline? I haven't used priceline for hotels and have wondered if they give you a "not as good" room [i.e. bad location]since it was through Priceline.

what do you mean it's not on priceline? the hotels they list aren't the good deals. you have to 'name your price'. Check biddingfortravel.com for more info. They also list the hotels typically awarded by location and category.

Our room was nice. Our rooms at the Lowes and El Conq. were fine too. Summer is slow in Tucson.

I justed re-checked...the Westin is there...listed under 'North Tucson' -- my mistake. I had only looked under Tucson. But these are the only 2 resorts I saw.

I understand about the name your own price...but doesn't the hotel have to be listed [under the regular priceline deals] to be one of the possibilites?

not necessarily. if you check betterbidding or biddingfortravel, people post their winning bid info. Since Tucson has a 'resort' category, it's a pretty safe bet, unless you want to be in a specific area, or have a specific resort in mind. We've also bid for 1 room for a family of 4 there amd always received a double bedded room (we'd call and request after the bid goes through).
