Just used Priceline for hotel in Pittsburgh....
 

I just used priceline for the first time. I reserved the Omni William Penn Hotel for a Friday in April for only $74! I was very excited because this was half the price I could get anywhere else. I just hope the rest of the priceline experience goes as well as the bidding did! Looking forward to checking out Pittsburgh...

If you don't by now, learn how to use the "free rebid" hidden-feature on PL.

Pittsburgh has 8 PL zones, and only Downtown has 4*. This is perfect for the bidder, as one has 7 "rebid zones" to play with.

Start your bid low, and then add one zone at a time and add a few bucks, while keeping Downtown. No need to wait 24 hours to bid again.

I think $74 still sounds pretty good!

$74 is still good for the casual bidder.

For the serious PL user, it can be bad or good. Just depends on demand for that day. Some days, one may not get it that low if one uses all methods daily; some days, you can get it for significantly less.

But anyways, if everyone using PL knows how to use "free rebids", then they'll either go out of business or hotels won't release rooms to PL. So, we need the "ignorants" (or "innocents") to overbid. They're subsidizing those who know.

I started my bid at $58, then increased from there. I guess I was doing the "free rebid" by adding other zones as rkkwan said. I noticed it gave me the option, and as he said, the only zone with 4 stars was downtown, so it was like starting all over again. I'm still very satisfied with $74. That's half the price I found on all other travel websites (believe me, I looked at them all, lol). So, if I spent $14 more, then that's okay. I don't think I'm being ignorant by saving over $80! :)

MrsJenn - You're doing it right, and that $74 is the best rate one can get, give and take a few bucks.
