Nancy, you made a good choice. It would be too hard not to spend ANY time but the ceremony with your friends and family. As someone else said even if you tell them that is all the time you have, they would want to take you out to dinner, breakfast, drinks, etc. Best wishes.

Hi Nancy,
Sorry to have disappeared for a while...was sick. Here is the recipe I promised:

SHOYU CHICKEN
1 cup shoyu (soy sauce*)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1 or 2 cloves garlic
1 tsp ginger powder or about 1 TBS fresh ginger diced
2&1/2 to 3 pounds chicken (I like thighs, but breasts, drummettes or boneless strips all work).

Mix everything and bring to a boil for 15 minutes, then reduce heat and simmer 30 more minutes.

*(For soy sauce- I find Kikkoman kinda strong, and use Aloha brand, or dilute the kikkoman)

This tastes great reheated the second day too. Play with the ginger and garlic to meet your tastes. You can also poach white fish in this liquid.
Super easy and delicious!

Another Hawaii recipe:

PINEAPPLE SPARERIBS
2 lbs spareribs
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup vinegar (white or cider)
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1 cup water
1/3 cup shoyu/soy sauce
1 tsp salt
1 clove garlic
1 chunk ginger root (approx 1 TBS)
3/4 cup pineapple chunks

Cook spareribs in boiling water for 15 minutes, then place in roaster and sprinkle with the flour. Combine all other ingredients except pineapple chunks and pour over ribs.

Bake at 300` for 2 hours stirring occasionally. Add pineapple chunks just before serving. Can be cooked stovetop if needed, but stir more often.

I have a n etiquette question for destination weddings. If my fionse and I are going away with a small group of 35 people to get married in the Carribean, but would still like to have a celebration back home with family and friends not at the destination. Is it more appropriate to throw the celebration party before or after the destination wedding?
Thanks

After! If you do it before, it's a shower! v;-0

Seriously, it's quite common to have receptions after the wedding...couples often get married in one partmers's hometown, or elope, or get married at a time not convenient for a big party.

I've never heard of having it before the weding has happened, but I'm sure your friends will come either way!.
