Just drove east across Utah tonight

And hit the mesas and canyons right as the sun was setting and it was amazing. I've driven I-70 so many times, but I must have never hit it at the right time before because this was stunning.

Right after coming out of the Fishlake National Forest (or about 50 miles west of Green River), the desert floor is entirely green and the mesas are orange/red. I couldn't get over the colors! I'd like to turn around now and go back for more.

It certainly is beautiful. Now plan a trip so you can stop and spend some time in the fantastic National Parks along the way. Arches and Canyonlands are special, and some of the other areas, like Comb Ridge, Buckhorn Wash, etc.

Glad you got to see it.

sheri,

Yesterday was a beautiful, perfect day in every way in my town of Park City. I went for an early evening hike and enjoyed the wildflowers and views.

I live here in Utah by choice and yes, sunrise and sunsets in many parts of the state are the best times of of day.

Come back and spend some quality time!

Spring is great, but so is fall. The combination of the red rocks and fall colors is amazing too! Summers are best in the high altitudes, northern Utah doesn't get as much press, but it's fabulous. Wildflowers, mountain lakes....
