Just back! LV trip report.
Just back from 5 days in Las Vegas. We went for our 15th anniversary and decided to do it as first class as we could afford. Here goes: Arrived Monday, no hassles at airport. We had reserved a limo but didn't need to as any type of transport(limos, town cars, taxis) are available right outside the airport doors. Drove to Bellagio, room wasn't ready(11:30AM), so went across the street to Paris and had lunch at Mon Ami Gabi(very good, recommend the steak and frites). No wait for a table either inside or out on terrace. Sat just inside, still had a great view of the strip. After did the Eiffel Tower tour, just a few minute wait. Stayed at the top for about 20 minutes-great views. back to Bellagio where room was ready. Had a lake view suite with living room and 2 1/2 baths, including steam shower and jacuzzi. Unbelievable views of the strip and the water show. Dinner that night at Picasso, beatiful dining room, food very good but VERY expensive( $250.00 for two without drinks),watched water show from our table over dessert. After toured the casino and turned in. Tuesday, breakfast at Cafe Bellagio (very good) and walked to Mandalay Bay. Very impressive and looks great for families. From there took the monorail and indoor moving walkways to Excalibur and Luxor. Very impressed with Luxor's lobby. Then to NewYorkNewYork (recommend ice cream at Schraft's) and MGM by elevated outdoor walkways. Walked back stopping at the Coca Cola store for more shopping. Tuesday PM at the pool at Bellagio. Tuesday night dinner at Circo, then to Caesar's palace by elevated outdoor walkway from the North entrance of Bellagio. Walked through casino and Forum Shoppes and then back to Bellagio. Wednesday breakfast buffet at Paris(very good,$27.00 for two). Walked through the shops at Paris,(very impressed with Paris overall) through Bally's and walkway to strip. Walked down to Venetian, toured the shops and took a gondola ride(opens at 10:00, no wait, $15.00/person or $60.00 for the whole gondola just for two). Then to Madame Tussaud's, really great, got to see this when in LV. Back to Bellagio. Rented a luxury car from Rent-a-Vette(Lexus SC430 convertible). They pick you up from the hotel. That afternoon, drove down to Mirage, Valet parked, toured Treasure Island and Mirage and went to the Dolphin Habitat and S and R's Secret Garden( just made it,closes at 5:00, last tour at 4:30). Up close with the dolphins and white tigers and lions. Dinner at Onda at Mirage(VERY highly recommended) and then to the Danny Gans show. As good as advertised-90 minutes of great music and hilarious,dead-on impressions. After show to Sirens of TI in front of Treasure Island(replaces pirate battle) and pictures of the Volcano at Mirage). Retrieved car and drove up and down strip with the top down,do this if ever get the chance,to cap off the night. Thursday, breakfast at Bellagio buffet( better than Paris' in my opinion) and then drove to Hoover dam. Easy and scenic drive. Did first tour at 9:00. Out of there by 10:00. Stopped for pictures of lake Meade on way back. Spent PM at pool(temps in low 90's all week.) Thursday night saw "O" at Bellagio. Seats in the 4th row left which puts you at eye level with the performers. Really breathtaking. Dinner after at Aqua, disappointing, sat at normally a great table at the window overlooking the pool complex but it was also next to a table of 20 loud, drunk patrons. Felt food was only average for the shocking prices(lobster in lobster pot pie was sparse and tough). No dessert, coudn't get out of there fast enough. Only bad point of the trip. Walked through botanical gardens after dinner and then back to room. Uneventful trip back home on Friday. Overall fantastic. There really isn't any place like Vegas. Can't wait to go back someday. Hope this report helps!
