Just back from Palm Springs
Wow - up to 111 degrees - we really got the heat we were hoping for. Lots of shops closed, too hot for much exercise during the day. Stayed at the Rennaisance Esmerelda - great hotel, nice rooms, great big pool (more for floating or taking a dip than any real swimming but fun bar poolside), really nice bar inside with comfortable seating and a band playing - lots of people dancing. A lot of chain restaurants have opened up in the dessert. We went for the old reliable - Charthouse - and enjoyed it. Also stopped by the new casino in Palm Springs - it is pretty small but won some money!

All in all, a great weekend getaway.

New casino? The casino in PS is owned by the local indian tribe, and has been there for like 8 years. Guess it'd been quite a while since you were there.

Hey Lou,
There's a brand new casino in PS. Guess it has been some time since you've been there too.

Gee - I take the time to post a report and get an obnoxious response. Todd, thanks for updating Lou!

Where's the brand new casino in Palm Springs? I only know of the Spa in downtown. The rest of the new ones that I know of are further east.

The new Agua Caliente casino is located in the unicorporated county area next to Rancho Mirage, at Bob Hope Drive and Ramon Road/I-10. Not technically in Palm Springs, nor is the Esmeralda, which is in Indian Wells. So what, really. Glad you had a good time, Sara. There's plenty more heat where that came from till about October.
