just back from NYC! Great trip! Thanks!

Just wanted to thank you all for your great suggestions for our first visit to NYC! We want to plan our return visit immediately! My 11 year old son wants to move there. We stayed at the Sheraton Manhattan, 3 blocks off of Times Square, which if you have an 11 year old is the perfect location. Great stuff going on right outside your door. Spent alot of time doing kid stuff - MTV, ferris wheel at the Toys are Us - got a huge kick out of the guys selling knock off purses out of canvas sacks, by the end of the week, my son had the whole routine down. Explored Grand Central, cheesecake at Juniors there, pizza at John's (yum!)- great Easter dinner at Cibo on 2nd, I believe (the mussels appetizer was perfect!) The only thing we wouldn't do again was the Empire State Building - it was raining and we spent 2 + hours in line -it probably cost us the time to go into Brooklyn for dinner at Grimaldi's and ice cream at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, which was very high on all of our lists, and it didn't get done, oh well, an excellent excuse to return. We loved the flower show at Macy's had a blast at the Today show and all and all enjoyed everything we did! We only had one not great meal, and that was at Virgil's bbq in Times Square. Went to the Times Square Church on Easter Sunday and then off to see the Easter Parade - again thanks to all of you for your help and advice it was truly invaluable.

denise: If you stay again at the Sheraton Manhattan, try to spring for a club level room (when the club opens up again- it is closed for renovations, date to reopen is unknown). It is one of the best Sheraton club levels I've ever had for beakfast. A very nice spread, w/Starbuck's coffees, 12 or so fresh fruits and berries (give me fresh berries and I am happy), very nice pastries and bagel/bread/muffin choices, hot cereals, gourmet granola, on and on. Not the typical club fare, and it is a great way to start the day. If they are improving the space now (I thought is was great, it was huge and up high w/windows already), it will be even better. In spite of the slow elevators, we like that hotel also for that huge indoor pool.

I noticed that there are 2 Sheratons right next to each other - Sheraton NY and Sheraton Manhattan.

Does anyone know what the main differences are between the two properties? Also, how does the Club level in Sheraton NY rate?

Actually, the two Sheratons are diagonally across the street from each other. The Sheraton New York is the better and the larger of the two, but the Sheraton Manhattan has a pool. The Sheraton New York is a major convention and business hotel.
