Just back from NYC
My husband and I just came back from NYC on our first trip. We had an amazing time. If we can say one thing WALK! You see so much more of the city and the life if you walk it. We stayed at the Belvedre Hotel on W48th and it was wonderful. The people at the hotel were fabulous. We found that we walked everywhere. We took the subway to SOHO and landed up walking back to our hotel which was great otherwise we would have missed so many wonderful areas such as Nolita, Gramercy etc. We would like to thank everyone who gave us advice on this site, it was much helpful. If we can give any advice to anyone just ask.<BR>We definetly loved NY.

Glad to see you like NYC..... I only manage to get there about once a year but I love the city. What can you say about the view of the skyline you get on the drive in from the airport for example? It is stunning and totally unique in the world. People told me that New York would be scary, the people rude, the tall building oppressive, the weather either unbearably hot or freezing cold. None of this was true. The city is fabulous and everyone should go there at least once in their lives.

I have lived in NYC all my life. What or where is Nolita?
|
x, "nolita" is "North of Little Italy" the new name for the area of Little Italy between Grand St. and Houston. They changed the name, raised the rents and now it's full of boutiques etc.

John, thanks. You really have to give credit to the real estate interests with their eye to making money. First SOHO, then Tribeca and now Nolita. The permanent residents of Little Italy living north of GRand St. can't be too happy to know they now live in Nolita. Sounds like a bad movie.
