Just back from NYC!
Just wanted to give a brief update of my recent trip to NY. All of the suggestions on this board were so helpful. Some of the highlights included: Celebrity spotting at out hotel (after the Songwriters Hall of Fame awards, saw Liza, Sting, Garth and several others); a great dinner a Union Square Cafe; breakfast at Norma's; seeing "21 Dog Years" in the West Village; going on the "Scene on TV" tour (great rainy day activity; pizza at Grimaldi's; a great lunch at Artisanal (can you tell it's all about the food?); a great Cobb Salad at Bubbie's; cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery; and getting the autographs of all of the Osbournes at the Virgin MegaStore (only waited in line for 4 hours). So-so events included: Brunch at the Plaza (great food, but overpriced at $59/person, also note that they turned away customers in shorts in case you ever wonder if there is a dress code there); seeing "The Graduate"; dinner at B. Smith's; and the 2 hour Circle Line Cruise. Low points included the fact that they were doing construction in our hotel, from 8 am-7 pm all week; and the weather (hot and raining).

All in all we had a wonderful time, can't wait to go back! :)

Sounds like a great trip! Where did you stay? Just want to make sure I'm not near the construction

Where is the "Scene on TV" tour?

We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers. We were on the 35th floor, sounds like the construction was taking place on the 36th floor!

For the other question, the "Scene on TV" tour was a bus tour of Manhattan filming spots like the Friends apartment building, the Cosby house, NYPD precint, etc. More info is online at http://www.sceneontv.com/about.html

We just got back from New York too. What a fun trip, especially for my 6 year old. Got a GREAT room (through priceline.com) at The Hilton for $90 a night! Walked to everything from there. Did all the "kids" things: Lion King, Beauty & The Beast, Toy's r us, FAO Schwartz, a Yankee game & adult things too; Caberet, night clubs, fun dinners.
most recommended: Stage Deli & Ruby Foos
Least " " : Mars 2112

Hi folks, I'm travelling to New York in the end of July and I'm planning on seeing a great musical. I've never seen The Lion King and I've heard it is awesome! What other good musicals are there in NYC right now?
Thanks
Paula
