Just back from Las Vegas. Saw LOVE and got a great upgrade at Bellagio!!!

I returned last night from a three night trip to Las Vegas with girlfriends (I use the term "girl" loosely - HA!). We had a Bellagio Suite reserved, but when we tried to check-in, the room wasn't ready. We had lunch and tried again - nope. The desk clerk made a call and pulled out a brochure. She said "This is the room you had and this is the room you have now." OMG - it was 1,525 square feet overlooking the lake!!!!

When we got to the room, we were screaming like little girls. Big fun - that's for sure. The room was fabulous. A once in a lifetime treat.

We saw LOVE and it was spectacular. I absolutely loved it. Music was amazing.

All in all, a great getaway to Las Vegas.

I was just wondering if you have seen any other Cirque shows? If so, how was this production in comparison? I just can't grasp how this will be in true Cirque tradition/style.

I love getaways with 'the girls' (and yes, we'll always be girls!). Yours sounds like a doozy--so glad you had fun.

More details, please!

Debit:

Yes, I have seen Mystere, "O", Ka! and LaNouba (in Orlando). LOVE was different in that it was more about the music than acrobatics. It is hard to explain, because it is different than other Cirque shows I've seen. Since my husband wasn't with me on this trip, I will definitely see it again when we go together next year.

I thought it was great. The music was amazing.

Thanks!

wow mikesmom~ lucky ducky you:)

Makes me want to go back and stay there(niece getting married there next week in a helicopter above the strip,lol)..

shoot, my last free upgrade was at the Sahara after getting stuck in an elevator for ten minutes.. when they peeled me off the wall, I had to be febreezed by the nice EMT's.. J.

I actually had the exact opposite impression of LOVE. I had really high hopes for it and I was just left disappointed with the lack of acrobatics and tricks...it was mostly just people dancing around to Beatles music. I do enjoy Beatles music, but the show didn't have enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. (Well, actually it did, b/c we were in the first row of the balcony and the railing obstructed our view, so we had to lean forward the whole time - LOL)

Awesome upgrade btw :)

We saw the Cirque show DELIRIUM in Montreal (we hated it, seats were terrible, stage was so far away, arena was too big to hold a show like Cirque!) and we also were disappointed because we were expecting acrobatics and circus type acts aftering seeing "O", LaNouba, and many of the traveling Cirque shows over the years. Delirium was very "musical" which was a problem for us because we are both hearing impaired, haha!! We are seeing Mystere in Vegas next month so looking forward to seeing a "tradional" Cirque Show again! We LOVED "O" so hope it's as good.

So how much did you "win" at the casinos?

mikesmom Sep 8th, 2006 09:29 AM

I think you will enjoy Mystere.

It is my favorite of the Cirque shows. I've seen it three times.

Bayridge:

The only luck I had in Vegas was when I checked in and got the Cypress Suite. It was downhill after that.

We were in Las Vegas the third week of August and Love was dark (not playing) all week long. We were told that they were adding to the show during that time. I know that original reviews of the show were not all that great. Apparently at that time more "Cirque" type acrobatics were added to compliment the music. That might help explain the differences of opinion of those who saw it before or after that time.

I have seen LOVE. It was ok. But I have seen The Fab Four at the Aladdin, which is so much better.

mikesmom Sep 8th, 2006 10:30 AM

I haven't seen the Fab Four, but I'm sure the music cannot compare to the music that was re-mastered by George Martin and his son for the LOVE production. LOVE is all about the music - the Cirque part of the show is secondary to the music.

Since Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were at the premiere of LOVE, I'm going to guess it is better than the Fab Four, but, of course, I could be wrong.

IamBooth Sep 8th, 2006 11:48 AM

mikesmom, next time catch the Fab Four. You will think you are at a 1960's Beatles performance.

mikesmom Sep 8th, 2006 12:02 PM

I saw the Beatles in 1964.

The thing for me is, I don't want to see anyone imitating the Beatles. I've seen the Beatles.

I liked LOVE for that reason.

IamBooth Sep 8th, 2006 12:09 PM

I have seen the real ones too mikesmom. I have been around.

ok, I am putting 20 bucks on the table. You do it too. Then next visit catch the Fab Four. Winner takes all. You will become a "believer".

If Paul M. and Sir George watched the Fab Four show THEY would think they were transported back to the 60's.

Little_Man Sep 8th, 2006 01:18 PM

Now I have to go see both!

Neopolitan Sep 8th, 2006 01:25 PM

Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think that LOVE had anything to do with "imitating the Beatles". Does it?

mikesmom Sep 8th, 2006 03:55 PM

Neopolitan: To be clear, what I liked about LOVE is that it is NOT about imitating the Beatles.

I guess this is what makes the world go 'round. I'm glad Iambooth enjoyed the Fab Four, but it just isn't on my list of things to do.

Everyone raves about Danny Gans and I'm sure he puts on a wonderful show, but it doesn't interest me in the least.

To each his own, I guess.
