Just 3 days in Boston! What is must see?
 

I'm travelling with my wife in July 2001 to Boston, and we need some help about the main point of interess in the city. He have just tree days in the city, and then, we are leaving, by car rental, to Quebec. What should I visit in Boston and in the trip to Quebec? <BR>Thank's for your help! <BR>Roger

The computer musuem is a great fun place. You'll learn all about computers.

Take one of the three trolley tours in town. For one flat rate you can get on and off as many times during the day as you want. As your tour guide tells you about all the wonderful things in town, you can be planning in your head where you want to go back to on your own the other two days. <BR> <BR>You can also walk the freedom trail and see many of new and old sites in town. <BR> <BR>Have fun on your trip.

Take the Duck Tour

Boston: Freedom Trail, Copley Square, Computer Museum, Christian Science Mother Church, Mapparium, Newberry Street, Museum of Fine Arts, Kennedy Museum, Hancock Tower (on a clear day)

Spend at least a half-day plus a good meal in Harvard Square, and another half-day pllus a good meal on Beacon Hill/Public Gardens. Hope you have a good guidebook but definitely check out www.citysearch.com and click on Boston. <BR> <BR>On the way to Quebec, you have several options as to the route, depending on how much time you have. What would you like to see -- scenery? Historic sites? Oddities? (Some people think all New Englanders are oddities....). How much time do you have to get from Boston to Quebec?

If the Red Sox are in town I would suggest taking in a game at Fenway Park. Also the Boston Museum of Science is a great museum to visit. If you like seafood try eating at the No Name. It is down on the fish piers near the World Trade Center.

Freedom Trail is a lot of fun and very historic, I would spend at least a half day walking that. Harvard Square is also very neat.

I was also in Boston for only 3 days and it was plenty of time to see most of the city. I agree with the other posters to do the Freedom Trail and go to Beacon Hill. You should also visit the North End for some good Italian food or pastries. We even went to Salem on the train. I was there over Halloween so it was fun but if you don't have the time - it isn't a must do.

Just returned last month from Boston, what a terrific city!!! I envy you having 3 days, we only had one. I must second the above, the trolley tours are a great way to see the city, they are hop on hop off and were $24.00 per person a few weeks ago (May be more in summer?). We also enjoyed the New England Aquarium the USS Constitution, Boston Common, Faneil Hall and Quincy Market... can't wait to go back we could have spent weeks there.

I second the Duck Tour! There is also a North End Cullinery tour that is great, and would be a great prelude to dinner there. Both "tours" require a reservation. I believe the Freedom Trail can be self-guided, and is certainly worth doing. The Boston Commons is fine, but small, and Fanuiel Hall/Quincy Market is fun to stroll about. The Museum of Fine Arts has an excellent reputation, as do the Aquarium and Science Museum - pick the one that suits your interests! As for dinner, there is a fancy-ish harbor tour, the food is okay, but the atmosphere is great. Also, pricey but "gourmet" with a great view of all of Boston, is the Bay Tower Room for dinner. Very romantic. You also may want to take in a touring play or one of the old Boston stand-bys: Shear Madness or Blue Man Group <BR>As for the drive to Quebec, I think I would follow Rt. 93 straight up from Boston, through New Hampshire and the White Mountains, the corner of Vermont, and into Canada. That's quite a long trip, but you may want to make a couple stops along the way: Exit 20 has a few tax-free outlet stores and a cool diner called the Tilton diner, Exit 32 features the "Lost River," (a beautiful hour "hike" on a trail through the woods with caves and waterfalls), and up where the "highway" ends is the "Old Man of the Mountain" viewing spot. Have fun!

Roger, when you get to Boston, check out what is happening at the Hatch Shell. This is our concert shell on the Charles river where we have the annual July 4th Pops concerts which are televised nationally. Best in the nation! What few non-locals know is that the Pops play at the Hatch Shell all week, not just on the 4th. And, there are other concerts and events all summer. It's a great way to spend the evening. It's free, and it's totally Boston. Hi. i live in bostonandt hink june and july are the nicest months. You didnt <BR>say your interests but if you like <BR>art, the museum of fine arts is great <BR>and righ ton the subway line. Also the <BR>aquarium is spectacular and my favorite <BR>neighborhood to eat in and walk around and go to a cafe after dinner is the north end, the italian sectoin. it feels <BR>the most european to me and many wkds in the summer they have italian festivals <BR>which are outdoors and are very colorful. ilove to people watch down there. the food is great too

I recommend taking the tour of that wonderful ship, the Constitution. It is free and fascinating.
