Juneau to Denali & return?

What is the best way to go from Juneau to Denali Park and back? The trip our cruise line offers is incredibly expensive and it is only for one day. I keep wondering, if I lived in Juneau and wanted to visit Denali, how would I do it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Denali is a long way from Juneau! There are no roads from Juneau. The only way out is by plane or boat. I can't imagine a cruise ship is offering a one-day to Denali....It's 1069 road miles from Skagway to Denali, and I'd guess Juneau is another 100 miles or so....

Perhaps it is so expensive because they fly you in?

Flying is the only option, and it's a one hour (jet) flight to Anchorage, followed by a 5 hour drive or 2 hour light plane ride to Denali, never mind touring the park, so pretty much impossible for a day trip, barring chartered business jets or something.

Are you sure this is offered by the cruise line?

What cruise line is this?

If you want to see Denali, you're much better off with a Whittier or Seward itinerary than an Inside Passage route.

That's a long, long day ... even with air-only and even in the long days of an Alaskan summer.
