July or august get away
 

having missed out on a getaway this summer out of the Phoenix heat, we are looking at ideas for next year in California.

Like Truckee area or more nice towns on the coast more northern

prefer small rental with cooking and near restuarants and hopefully some trout fishing - any ideas to share-? thank you

North on the coast look at the stretch between Little River/Mendocino/Ft Bragg . . . wouldn't be great for trout fishing but lots of ocean fishing for sure and fabulous scenery, and lots of restaurants etc. But the Eel River inland and easily accessible from Mendocino County as a day trip has great fishing (and all the fabulous redwood parks in the area)

I might not choose Truckee/Tahoe in late summer - more crowds, and afternoon thunderstorms but there certainly are lots of rental properties
