July Honeymoon in Kauai
 

We are planning to travel to Maui and Kauai in early July 2000. I read somewhere that the Princeville/North Shore of Kauai is better in July than the South Shore. Any recommendations re: whether we should stay at the Princeville Hotel rather than the Hyatt? Is there anything we should know about Maui in July?

Stephanie, <BR> <BR>I'd definitely stay on the North Shore of Kauai in July! I love July in the islands because the fruit is the sweetest and the flowers most abundant at that time! What should you know about Maui in July? It's heavenly, that's what! My favorite time to go to Hawaii is the May to July time period for the aforementioned reasons. Have a fabulous time - we have been four times and will go again this coming May or July! Can hardly wait! <BR> <BR>Have a wonderful trip!

OK Stephanie -I will really confuse you now. We stayed at the Hanalei Bay Resort-North Shore, right next to the Princeville Hotel. The hotel and resorts, condos in that area are mostly located on a Bluff looking down onto Hanalei Beach and ocean. Very beautiful, but not good for a quick walk on the beach. I would recommend the Hyatt at Poipu Beach (South Shore). It is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever been to. The weather is a bit sunnier too. The island is small, so rent a car or jeep and drive to Waimea Canyon and Hanakapiai Beach where Na Pail Coast begins -- breath taking. PS the helicopter trip IS worth it! Good luck.

Stephanie - My wife and I honeymooned in June 1999 in both Kauai and Maui. We stayed for five nights at the Princeville Hotel and six nights at the Four Seasons in Maui. We visited other hotels when we were on both islands and were very happy with our decision to stay at the Princeville and the Four Seasons. You will not regret staying at the Princeville Hotel (which has to be one of, if not the most romantic and breath-taking spots in the world).

I completely agree with JB. Did the same 5/6 nights at Pinceville/Four Seasons for our honeymoon in April. Checked out the other hotels and talked to other people and we definitely made the right choice. The Princeville is the easy one. A view from your room that you will never forget and the most beautiful beaches on the island. I think we got lucky with the weather but your chances are probably better in July. Spent some time on the South Shore and it felt more touristy. The Hyatt has beautiful grounds but the water can be rough and the scenery can't compare.

Agree with many postings (repllies) regarding your upcoming trip to Kauai. We honeymooned in Kauai, Maui, The Big Island and were married in Lanai. <BR> <BR>We split our time between the Hyatt and Princeville Resort in Kauai - and there is NO comparison. Princeville is the ultimate in romance,very secluded, with an attentive staff, fabulous food, and a view that is to die for. The rooms are gorgeous, and all have a view of the mountains!!! <BR> <BR>You'd regret not staying at this treasure!!! <BR>

Yes, the Princeville is fantastic??? I Have heard that the food in their better restaurants is not that spectacular - certainly the food at the pool was just fine...we ate at little places in Hanalei in the evenings. It should be nice and dry in July and the water on the north shore during this time is quite placid. The South Shore will be quite rough(water).
