July 4th in Utah

Hi,

We're on a road trip from Denver to Vegas and will be travelling through Utah on July 4th - Not being from the States I wondered whether it would be difficult to get hotel accommodation due to folks going away for the weekend (in the UK on certain holidays everyone seems to take a weekend break and hotels are full).

Could anyone advise.

Many Thanks

Iain

It depends a lot on where in Utah you'll be. In and around the larger cities, finding accomodations should not be a problem. In smaller towns, and especially in and around the major tourist areas, it might be impossible without reservations.

you must be planning to drive on I70 from Denver to Utah? that will put you in the middle of the state, I70 hits I15 near Cove Fort in Utah. not much population in that area, closest town to stay would be south of there in Cedar City, nice size town with lodging, further south from there is St. George which is a larger town with more lodging options. will be very hot in St. George over July 4th so i doubt you will have problems getting a room there. but for sure reserve ahead.

as you drive south on I15 you will see exit for Kolob Canyons, very nice drive that wouldn't take too long if you choose it, beautiful red rock canyon. also you are close to Zion near St. George, you will see signs. Zion is near Hurricane, utah and about 30 mins from the freeway.

not sure i even answered your question, people do travel over July 4th here, but overall summer travel is busy in the West, so plan ahead especially for the national parks.

It will most likely be pretty busy and it will most likely be warm if not downright hot.

Book ahead and take plenty water and sun screen is what I'm hearing!
