July 4 in Vegas... two-part question.
 

1) Is it unbearably, beastly hot? Or is it not so bad because it's a &quot;dry heat&quot;? I've been to Vegas a bunch of times, but never in high summer.<BR><BR>2) Does anything particularly exciting happen in Vegas over the 4th, beyond the usual? Fireworks over the Strip, perhaps? Events at certain hotels that are worth attending? Or is it pretty much like any other summer weekend?<BR><BR>Many thanks in advance!!<BR>

1) It's all relative. It is VERY hot. I lived in Florida for a while and I think Vegas at 115 is better than Florida at 98 deg 98% humidity, but not by a heck of a lot. On one day, the last time I was there, the humidity went up to 38% and outdoor workers were calling in sick left and right, the dealers and locals were up in arms like people in NYC getting 2' of snow. I didn't notice that much of a difference. You don't want to be outside walking. I found it OK from 9AM-Noon but unbearable around 3:00. Nevertheless, I'm going back this July, just plan on being at the pool or indoors, drink LOTS of water, wear sunscreen at all times and a hat.

Lol, yes, it is a dry heat :)<BR>I like it much better than NYC in the 90's. I have been to LV in August a few times, I enjoyed it very much.<BR>You will still freeze in the casinos :) carry a light sweater.<BR>

We were there last 4th of July. Nothing special went on. City was busy. Yes, it's dry heat, but so is fire! (but I agree w/Loki, it's better than Florida at 98, where WE will be spending 4th of July, so I envy you!) We were in Vegas two weeks ago and it was COLD (around 50, &amp; very windy).

100 degrees is hot humidity or no humidity.

Is it more crowded 4th of July weekend than any other summer weekend?
