Journey time

How long would it take to drive from the Yosemite Park(I will be staying in Yosemite Lodge located in the valley)to Sequoia Park. I would like to spend about four hours there and get back to San Francisco by 7pm latest. Is this possible?

I don't think it's realistic. The trip to Sequoia takes longer than you might expect because it is on incredibly winding and steep roads. I was there about 9 years ago, so details are not that fresh, but I do know that I thought at the time it would be an easy day trip, never expecting the ride up to be so taxing to my nerves. I feel the trip was definitely worth doing, but once there, you should allow an overnight. It warrants more time than just a short visit. There are many different trails you can explore. Unfortunately, since I only had an afternoon, I can't tell you what we missed, but I did regret having to leave. Perhaps someone else knows of a way there without the steep, slow, winding roads. I seem to recall the trip from the base of the park being about 15 miles and taking an hour.

Many thanks for your response.
I understand that the drive from Visalia along CA198 is very sttep but the drive from Fresno is not that difficult.
