John Denver - Rocky Mountain High

Miss his sweet voice.

You and me, both. Such a loss.

Last time I saw him he played alone...not backup singers or band. It was like sitting in your living room with 1000 of your closest friends.

He has always been a favorite - he just made me feel peaceful. I saw a production about him at Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia and it was so touching. Such a loss for all of us.

OK. Now I feel stupid. Is there something else going on with the Denver thing....I just got on the internet after a long day of school and thought this thread was really about John Denver. Maybe not? I think BarbAnn and I are on the same page.

John Denver is my all time favorite singer. I saw him in concert a couple of times. The second time was an out door concert at a small winery and we were in row 12 from the stage. It was a warm summer evening and it felt like such an intimate setting. I'm so glad we paid the high price of tickets that June because that October he was gone. ;'(

Spammer was digging up every thread related to Denver.

BUT....

A while back I was on the road for a couple of hours and ran across a station that only played songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. "Rocky Mountain High" came on. So beautiful. It made me sad that he is gone. My mom, sister and I saw him in Lake Tahoe at a special show at 3 am in 1978. We were on stand-by but got seats about 10 feet from the stage. Jay Leno opened. Then 2 hours of music. So wonderful and great memories John Denver's music brings back.

I loved his music but only was able to see him perform once and I was waaay back in the cheap seats. He died right off the Monterey coast at a place I have visited often and I always think of him when I am there.

Loved his soothing voice. Saw him in concert once, many lighters were lit!

Read his autobiography. Not such a nice guy.

Actually saw him perform live at a Copper Mt. CO with the audience sitting on the mountainside. Wonderful.

When I was in York, England earlier this month I was at a nice restaurant and they were playing John's music. The Brits seem to have a liking for oldies. Anyway, it brought back a lot of memories all good.

He's on my iPod. I plan to have Prayers & Poems & Promises played at my funeral (and as I'm typing this I remembered we had had Perhaps Love sung at our wedding).

He was - and still is- my favorite. His music is the soundtrack of my life, especially PPP.

Since the legality of marijuana in Colorado, I think they ought to make Rocky Mountain High the state song.

The Denver offense became the John Denver offense when Everybody was High during the <s>Super</s> Pot Bowl this year.

And of course, the game was in progress at 4:20 Seattle time, but not at 4:20 Denver time.

Northwest, here in Colorado, that is the-game-that-shall-not-be-named; I'll thank you not to refer to it. Ever. Again.
