Jimmeny Peak with a 3 year old?
 

Some friends and I are planning a family getaway with small children...does anyone have any suggestions of fun things to do with a 3 year old in the Jimmeny Peak area in March? He has never tried skiing and I am not sure he will like it.

There is a heated outdoor pool. Not much else beyond skiing.

Do you mean nearby, or actually at Jiminy Peak?

The mountain has a day care program for young children, and also a "mountain coaster" ride, but I'm not sure if a 3 year old is too young for that. They used to have snow tubing just down the road at a small (defunct) ski area they had purchased, but I'm not sure if that is still available. If not, there is a great sledding hill nearby on Rt. 43, where people just park their cars and walk up the hill.

Also, look into Ioka Valley Farms, within 1/2 mile of Jiminy. It is a former dairy farm now engaged in agri-tourism. In March, they will be making maple syrup, and serving pancakes. They have some animals, outdoor play area and maybe wagon rides. I think they have a web site.

Less than a half hours drive from Jiminy is the Children's Museum in Pittsfield.

I would recommend you explore the Jiminy Peak (note spelling) web site, and contact them for more info, and also check the Berkshire County Tourist Office for other ideas if you are interested in the surrounding area.

The snow tubing was at Brodie. No longer running unfortunately. The Mountain Coaster is summer only and wouldn't be suitable at that age.

You are correct, tchoiniere, there no longer is tubing at the former Brodie Mt./Snowy Owl location.

I double checked on the Mountain Coaster and it does operate on Sat. and Sun. in the winter, and children under 5 can go on with an adult.
