JFK to Westchester County?

Hey everyone!
What's the best way to get from JFK to Bronxville? (NOT the Bronx...Bronxville, out in the 'burbs). I'll be flying from LAX to JFK in three weeks...arrival time is 4:30pm (yeah,I know...right smack-dab in the middle of rush-hour).
Am I screwed, or is there a viable way?

Thanks.

PS As an alternative, I might have to go instead from JFK to Midtown. But I'd rather not because I don't want the person I'm meeting to have to wait around for me after work.

Do you mean mass transit? Or are you asking if taxis go there? Are you looking for a car service to pick you up? Or will you have a car and you want specific directions?

Hey Hamlet...
I won't be using a rental car.
What's best: Taxi...public transit...shuttle? I've visited many, many cities in the US, but this will be my first time to NYC.
Any suggestion(s)?
None of the options are convenient or inexpensive. There are many companies that service airport with limos, vans, etc. Here are couple that you can call to get an idea on price: Westchester Express (800-532-3730) and Westchester and Fairfield Limo Service (914-921-6403). I CANNOT vouch for the quality of their service. I don't know.

I live/work in Westchester County - the sad news is that your best option is to hire a car service. Local "limo" companies such as Red Brook, CT Limo (does service NY too) only stop in designated locations, so even if they do stop in Bronxville, you'll have to figure out a way to get to your final destination (FYI...there won't be any cabs waiting at the limo's drop-off point.) Plus, their trips usually take twice as long as you could drive it yourself, because they have other stops, have to help people with their luggage and have to collect their money; and sometimes have to check in with their dispatcher. So, a trip that normally takes 45-60 minutes, takes 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours.

I suggest hiring a car service who will pick you up at the airport (outside baggage claim) and will bring you right to your destination. The service my company uses is Elite (718-472-2271).
